Alexander Bain, once "the grand old man" of
Hawkesbury came here from the County of Victoria, where
he was an accountant for Hart and Ingraham. When that firm dissolved he commenced business for himself, married Miss
Brouard, daughter of Peter John Brouard, and has ever since enriched the social life of Hawkesbury.
For many years he was the trusted American Consul at his Port. He spends the sunset of life alone, with an only daughter,
a lesson in good living for us who are a little younger.
